The Power of Priesthood Blessings

As a young teenager I remember sitting next to Kaylee, one of the older girls, during church.  She always had great insights on gospel lessons.  I noticed that she also had written many quotes down in her journal.  She could them look up at any time she wanted, because she kept her journal with her wherever she went.  I wasn't keeping a journal back then, but because of her good example I decided it was a worthwhile thing to do.  After all, she was older, smarter, and nicer than a lot of other people I knew.

I started by taking a little journal to church with me.  I soon found that it filled with drawings much faster than amazing insights.  But as I got older I took more time to listen and write down impressions and ideas I received.  Little did I know what kind of an impact this was having on my life.

After years of writing in a journal I have realized that it has many benefits.  It gives me the opportunity to look back and see the progress I have made over the years. I am still young, but with each year that passes I can see a difference in the way I think and the way I live.  I make little choices day to day which eventually build me up to the person I want to be. In some cases my journal helps me realize that the choices I make might be  turning me into someone I Don't want to be. Therefore giving me the opportunity to identify my mistakes and change them.

Now, you're probably wondering what this all has to do with the title of my post: "The Power of Priesthood Blessings". Let me tell you. :)  So over the past couple of years I have had many challenges and opportunities to call upon the Lord for help.  And one of the ways I have received help and answers to those prayers is through priesthood blessings. You may wonder how a blessing could ever change someones life, or maybe you don't know how something like that could even be real or of any substance.  But over time I have spent hours writing things down in my journals.  And recently I have observed and recorded blessings I have received.  I have recorded the actual blessing bestowed on me verbally and I have also recorded the times those things have come to pass.  I know that the Lord will answer my prayers and warn me when needed.  I love the Lord, and I know He loves me. I testify that the Lord pays attention to every little detail in our lives and even when things are hard or you feel like you can't do this any longer He has your benefit in mind and that someday you will understand the reason for all the things you've had to go through in your life. I say these things in the name of our Lord and Savior, even Jesus Christ. Amen.
