Let there be light!
Last night I tried to go to bed but I wanted to read. I don't like winding down and then having to get back up to turn off my light. It defeats the purpose. So I decided to pray for a lamp or flashlight I could use to read with while I tried to fall asleep. I knew I didn't have a functioning one so I prayed. Next I took a few moments to muster up some faith. Faith is the magic ingredient that causes things to work. I thought tot myself, "I am going to somehow be able to read tonight without having to get up and turn off the light switch. The Lord will provide a way and answer my prayer." I told myself that until I believed it.
Then I took action and looked at the few ways I could find some light. A dying flashlight that's too dim to read with, a key chain that requires continually holding down a button with large amounts of pressure (even then it still flickers), my cell phone, and lastly a battery powered lamp from a dollar store that has been broken for a couple of years. I didn't want to run my cell phone battery down and I don't know how to change the settings so I picked up the little lamp that I used to use before it was broken. After all, my mom had tried to fix it a few weeks ago for me. I didn't have the heart to tell her that even though she got it to work it didn't ever work after that... It had full batteries but something in the connection wasn't letting the electricity get from battery to light bulb.

I turned off my bedroom light and climbed into bed. I tried to get the light working in the dark. I was determined because I know that when you pray for something and have faith that it will happen, it does. So I did my part. I pushed the button multiple times, I hit it, I shook it. Nothing. I left it on. (With no light obviously) Then I remembered my mom telling me that she had taped part of it because it worked when this little switch was in a certain position. So I tried finding the tape with no luck. Then I had an idea! Perhaps this was the answer to my prayer! I recalled times that the moon would shine in my window in the summer time and be really bright. Maybe the moon would be out so I could read. I opened my curtains but no light came in. So I hit the lamp against the bars on my window. Yes, I have bars on my window. Just like a princess would locked up in a tower. Nothing was working so I decided to give up. After all it was really late, and perhaps the Lord would prepare a way for me to read tomorrow night instead. I laid my head down on my pillow clicked the lamp button to turn it off and a beam of light was shining from my hands. The lamp worked! I just sat there in aw.
The Lord answered my prayer. Sometimes He waits for us to do our part and hand it over to Him before the blessings come. But I testify that the blessings DO come. Even if it is later than we anticipated and I testify that if we have faith in the Lord, he will work miracles in our lives. Some miracles that are small and simple, and others that are unimaginable and great. I say this in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
